Emily praises work of HIV/AIDS charity

Emily Thornberry has praised the excellent work of Body & Soul - a charity that helps young people and families living with HIV/AIDS - and has said she is looking forward to the charity's relocation to Finsbury later this year.

Emily met 15 teenagers living with or closely affected by HIV/AIDS, along with Body & Soul staff and volunteers at the parliamentary launch of the charity's "A Smile is a Gift' campaign on Monday, May 15th. The new six-month campaign aims to raise public awareness of HIV, tackle the related stigma, and to raise funds for Body & Soul's new centre for services which will be based in Finsbury.

Emily has taken a particular interest in the charity because of the services it provides by focusing on young people and families living with HIV/AIDS. She has pledged her full support for the charity when it relocates to new offices on Rosebery Avenue, Finsbury, later this year.

Emily said:

"I am glad that we have ‘Body & Soul' to provide vital support to young people and their families living with HIV/AIDS. I am impressed by their plans for the new centre in Finsbury, and I fully support the valuable service it will offer to people in the area and beyond"
